Nick Name

Many people get puzzled when I call someone's name differently. It is because the nick name is not usual in the sense that, it is not according to what many people call the name in their daily life. The was a secretary to Mr. Mulya to whom I call Ningsih while other people call her Ami.  Not a few people are also surprised when I call Pohan to Aulia Fitria, one of our bank supervisors. It is I who am the first to name Mr. Harisman, our former director, as Tuan Guru. He refused when we call him kiai  or buya a title suggesting a respect for senior people who has certain level knowledge or piety.

The reason I use this call name is just to differentiate myself of calling someone. So if I call him/her through voiceless media such as email or chatting tools, he/she will recognise me immediately. Although I use different name/ email address. Not many people know my other alias, dont they? Other reason is to make us closer to the called person. If you have special (good) call for someone, like humaira (the one whose red on the cheek)-name given to Ummul Mu'minin Aisha by our Prophet-, is it not giving him/her happiness?
In our religous tradition, it is allowed to name other people differently, as long as the one who is called by the nickname does not feel offended. In Batak tradition people are proud to be called by their family name such as Nasution, Panjaitan, Batubara and so on.
That is why, in our group we have Little Princess (Utie), Big Princess (Lrd), Bapake Fira (GSU), Dul Gembul (Linda) Uni (anyone from Minang area), Miumiu (what is sit upposed to mean?) and others. I hope they are not offended if I call them by these names.

Easy guys, its just training time for writing article.
One article per day he..he..he..
Who's the next?
